What swapping a battery actually displaces

Every charged pack handed across a hub counter is a generator that didn't run, a kerosene lamp that stayed unlit, and a household that kept more of its income. Here is what that adds up to.

Energy displaced

Every kWh that leaves a Pocket Power hub on a charged pack is a kWh a household or small business didn’t have to buy as petrol, kerosene, or paid phone-charging. Across 533 packs in rotation, that adds up to a meaningful share of daily energy use in Kwali, Kuje, and AMAC going through the swap network instead of a fuel tank.

Emissions avoided

Diesel and petrol generators are the default backup power source across the communities we serve. Each swap that replaces a generator run, even for a few hours, is emissions that were never released. Our avoided-CO2e figure is built from the difference between a typical small-generator load and the equivalent battery pack doing the same job.

Local jobs

Hub operators, pack technicians, and the people who keep the racks charged and the customer records straight are hired from the communities we operate in. As we open new hubs, each one adds direct roles at the counter and indirect income for the businesses that now run longer hours on reliable power.

Gender inclusion

Women make up a growing share of both our hub staff and our customer base, particularly among Household and Commercial tier renters running small businesses. Reliable, affordable power lowers the cost of running a stall, a salon, or a food business after dark, work disproportionately carried by women across our operating communities.
