Pocket Power

How it works

A battery you rent, not electricity you meter

There is no wire to your house and no meter on your wall. You collect stored energy in a pack, use it, and bring the pack back. Everything below happens at your community hub.

What happens at the counter

01

The operator finds your record

By scanning your customer card or entering your phone number.

02

Your flat pack is scanned in

Checked for damage and put on the charging rack.

03

A charged pack is scanned out

The fullest one on the rack, so you get the most use.

04

You pay and get an SMS

Cash, transfer, USSD or from your wallet balance.

What people ask us first

How long does a pack last?

It depends on what you run. A 50 Wh pack will charge a phone several times and light a room for two evenings. A 500 Wh pack runs a fan and a television for an evening.

What if it stops working?

Bring it to the hub. If the pack is faulty we replace it at no charge and you keep your remaining time.

Do I own the pack?

No. You rent it. That is why there is no large upfront cost.

Can I pay in advance?

Yes. Top up your wallet at the hub or by USSD and your swaps come out of the balance.
